Dave Malloy

Dave Malloy is a composer/writer/performer/sound designer. He has written ten musicals, including Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, an electropop opera based on War & Peace. Comet premiered at Ars Nova in the fall of 2012, before transferring Off-Broadway to Kazino, a Russian supper club built specially for the show; the show won the Richard Rodgers Award, an OBIE, and 11 Lortel nominations. It remounts at ART this fall.

His next musical, Ghost Quartet, premiered at the Bushwick Starr in October 2014, and then transferred to The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, for a twice extended run.

Other shows include Three Pianos; Black Wizard/Blue Wizard; Beowulf – A Thousand Years of Baggage; Beardo; Sandwich; and Clown Bible. He has won a Jonathan Larson Grant and an ASCAP New Horizons Award. He lives in Brooklyn.

Upcoming: Preludes, a piece about Rachmaninov and hypnosis at LCT3, and an adaptation of Moby Dick.
