KIRSTEN GUENTHER (Book and Lyrics) appeared on the cover of Insight for Playwrights, was named one of “50 writers to watch” by The Dramatist and was recently selected to be the subject of The Dramatist’s “Ten Questions” series. She wrote the book for Mrs. Sharp (2008 Richard Rodgers Award) which was workshopped at Playwrights Horizons this July starring Jane Krakowski and directed by Michael Greif . Kirsten’s other projects include book and lyrics for Little Miss Fix-It (Collaborative Arts Project 21), Soon Never (Directors’ Lab Workshop at Lincoln Center) and The Birthday Present. Her lyrics have been heard on the hit YouTube series The Battery’s Down (Ghost Light Records) and TADA’s off-Broadway production Everything About A Family (Almost). Previously, Kirsten wrote in Paris for USA Today and authored the Parisian weekly dating column, "The Sexy Expat." She is currently developing a new musical with Joy Son based on her weekly columns. Kirsten is the recipient of the 2006 Lincoln Center Honorarium, 2007-8 Dramatist Guild Fellowship, Marge Goldwater Scholarship and was a 2007 Disney/ASCAP workshop participant. Her work has been performed throughout Greater New York including the Public Theatre, Lincoln Center, Goodspeed, Barrington Stages, the York Theatre, NY City Center (Encores!), Joe’s Pub and recently at the Palace Theatre where she wrote the opening number for a Queen Latifah tribute (prod. Rosie O’Donnell). Kirsten has been a guest speaker at NYU, Harvard and Yale and her work has been produced on college campuses across the country. JOY SON (Music) Recipient of Jerry Harrington Award (with Steve Routman), Shelley Pinz Prize from the BMI Foundation and nominee of Jerry Bock Award for her creative achievement in musical theatre writing. Songs from The Fisher King (book and lyrics by Steve Routman), Little Miss Fix-It (book and lyrics by Kirsten Guenther) and other compositions have been heard in NYC’s numerous cabaret and theatrical venues including Lincoln Center, York Theater (NEO2, NEO3 Concerts), Laurie Beechman, Barrington Stage, the Manhattan Theatre Club, Birdland, Duplex, Golden Fleece (A Supper at Elsinore, book and lyrics by Thomas Gualtieri), Raw Impressions Music Theatre (Off Beat, book and lyrics by Amanda Yesnowitz), Dixon Place, Triad, Zipper, TADA! Youth Theatre and many more. A member of BMI Lehman Engel Musical Workshop, Dramatists Guild, The Authors League of America, and Local 802. Joy received a M.A. (Steinhardt, Composition) and a M.F.A. (Tisch School of the Arts, Musical Theatre Writing) from New York University. Joy proudly hailed from Seoul, South Korea to join New York’s most exuberant music scene in the year of 2001.
