Full Length Musicals: THE FISHER KING (with Steve Routman): 2007 Jerry Harrington Award and 2006 Shelley Pinz Prize from BMI, Inc. LITTLE MISS FIX-IT (with Kirsten Guenther) received workshop and readings at The Roundabout Underground, CAP 21, Emerson College and Pace University “Pace New Musicals.” also featured in NBC’s The Apprentice. THE UNITED STATES OF US (with Alan Gordon) won 2014 American Harmony Prize from Curtain Call, Inc.  Also with librettist Alan Gordon, Ms. Son is currently developing BETTER THAN DREAMING, loosely based on Shakespeare’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM: 2014 IMEA Awards for Outstanding Original Score of a Musical, 2015 Wide Eyes Production WINK reading series, 2015 Santa Fe Musical Theatre Festival. Along with her U.S. career, Ms. Son’s Korean musical LOVERS IN PARIS (with Heejoon Lee) received a production in Seoul (D-Cube Theater, 2012).  Her second Korean musical RUNWAY BEAT (w. Heejoon Lee), based on a Japanese novel and a film with the same title, received a developmental production in Seoul, presented by Arts Council Korea (Arko Arts Theater, 2015).  Most recently, Ms. Son is commissioned to compose the music for Takarazuka Revue Company’s 2015-2016 production of MANON with Keiko Ueda, based on Abbé Prévost’s novel Manon Lescaut.

Publication: “Happy” (with Jill Abramovitz): The BMI Workshop Songbook, Vol.1.  Ms. Son was also featured as a subject for a Korean non-fiction book Pincess La Brava (Wisdom House, 2010).  A proud alumna of BMI Lehman Engel Musical Workshop and a member of Dramatists Guild of America, Ms. Son is affiliated with BMI.  Ms. Son holds a M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Writing (Tisch, NYU), a M.A. in Composition (Steinhardt, NYU) and a B.M. in Composition (Ewha Womans University).
