Rob Rokicki

ROB ROKICKI is a songwriter, performer and educator. He is the composer/lyricist of critically acclaimed Broadway musical, THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL (book by Joe Tracz). The initial Off-Broadway adaptation was nominated for a Lortel Award, Off Broadway Alliance, and three Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Musical before launching tours across North America.

His graphic novel/musical, MONSTERSONGS (art by David O’Neill), received a World Premiere Recording from Broadway Records and was an official selection of the prestigious NAMT festival. His immersive musical about escaping a cult, EXPERIENCE MARIANAS, was developed at Cap21/Molloy University and was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill National Musical Theatre Conference. He wrote the music and lyrics for UNI THE UNICORN (book by Timothy McDonald) commissioned by Bay Area Children’s Theatre. He is co-arranger and orchestrator for the jukebox musical, PUNK ROCK GIRL (book by Joe Iconis).

Other projects: LOVE, NY (with Michael Ruby; American Harmony Award recipient, DC Fringe); 11:11 (formerly RELATIVITY, selected for The Pitch and for LiveRead at USC); 20 TO LIFE (American University); STRANGE TAILS (West Village MT Festival winner, NAMT grant recipient, Ars Nova’s ANT fest); MARTHA & ME (NY Fringe); SAMSON’S FIRE (The Cell Theater). He has scored two films: GINGERBREAD HOUSE (New York Film Academy) and DIVIDENDS (New York Shorts International Film Festival).

Broadway veterans to students internationally have sung his songs that “live at the perfect intersection of musical theatre and radio rock” (Adam Gwon). Rob regularly has work featured in cabarets in New York, London and recently Japan. He is a two-time Larson Award finalist, alum of the BMI writing workshop, and member of the Dramatists’ Guild. He holds a BFA, BA University of Michigan. His albums are available on Broadway Records and Great White Wax.
