Meet the Bloggers: Alyssa Soto
The Green Room is so excited to introduce you to the newest bloggers who are joining us this summer! Today is the last day of new blogger introductions, but you can check out previous installments of Meet the Bloggers series, too.
Name: Alyssa Soto
What do you do outside of blogging? I am currently a junior at Millikin University pursing a degree in Musical Theatre.
Favorite musical: Ah…the impossible question for any musical theatre lover to answer. While many musicals have captured my heart over the years, I absolutely adore Dogfight and In the Heights. Both have such powerful and meaningful messages, not to mention beautiful storylines. Each possesses truly unique musical scores that always leaves me with a sense of inspiration. No matter where I am in my life, I can always turn back to these two musicals to comfort me.
What are you interested in blogging about this summer? I will be studying abroad in London this coming fall, so I am hoping to explore more into the theatre scene in London, especially the new musical theatre that is developing “across the pond.”
What are your non-theater interests? I have a love for books and reading, particularly British literature. I am an ’80s movie fanatic and can constantly be seen binge-watching new and old television shows on Netflix. I have a deep appreciate for all genres of music, especially jazz. If you are driving in the car with me, I will usually be singing loudly to whatever happens to be playing on the radio.
Favorite contemporary MT song: This answer usually changes on a weekly basis, but currently the song that holds the title is “Lost in the Brass” from Band Geeks. As a former band geek, I immediately fell in love with it.
