Meet the Bloggers: Marion Gutierrez

The Green Room is thrilled to introduce you to our newest bloggers who are joining us this spring. For the rest of the week, you can get to know them through the latest installments of our Meet the Bloggers series.

Name: Marion Gutierrez

What do you do outside of blogging? I sing a lot, I do shows at my university, I watch shows, I eat cakes and carrots, I take dance lessons, I am directing a production of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s show Edges, I jump around ’cause I’m happy to be directing Edges and I tweet. Oh and I study History too, when I have time.

What are you interested in blogging about this spring? NewMusicalTheatre.com already has posts about MT in London and Germany, so I would like to write about what is happening in France. There are currently many different shows and events looking more or less like musical theater, and I would like you to discover them.

What are your non-theater interests? Sometimes, I have to write papers about the coca planter federation in Bolivia for the University. It’s extremely interesting. (That was not sarcasm. It really is interesting.)

Favorite contemporary MT song: That’s a really hard choice… Let’s say “Velociraptor” by Joe Iconis, because of the first line: “It’s hard to be a velociraptor cruising at the singles’ bar.” The simple absurdity of the thing is so beautiful and poetic. Just like this dear strange old swimming noodle that lied on my sofa before my flatmate threw it away.
