MEET THE BLOGGERS: MARC

The Green Room is thrilled to have a wonderful group of bloggers join us this winter. For the rest of the week, you can get to know them through our Meet the Bloggers series.

Name: MARC

What do you do outside of blogging? I’m a college freshman taking up Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Favorite musical: I know this sounds cliche but with all honesty, Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Miserables. It’s just one of those musicals that never fail to amaze and inspire me. The songs and the story run so deep emotionally that I can’t help but cry every time I listen/sing along to it.

What are you interested in blogging about this winter? I’ve always loved observing how musical theater (and art in general) affects and/or is affected by the society it belongs to. I think that it’s really interesting to see how the art inflects its influence and leaves its mark to any particular place and time–kind of like a time capsule.

What are your non-theater interests? Other than the theater, I enjoy reading fictional novels (big Potterhead over here!), making photo-haikus, singing in the shower, watching some football, and playing card games with my sisters!

Favorite NMT song: This is probably the hardest question in the bunch since I think I have about a dozen of them. But if I had to choose an absolute favorite, it would be Jonathan Reid Gealt’s “Here for You” which he recorded with Jeremy Jordan. It’s a song that first got me to listen to songs other than Broadway and I think that its message is just so beautiful that it never gets old (then again, a lot of songs never get old for me ;)).
