Favorite audition tip: As many new musical theatre composers are writing in more of a pop vein, finding songs for auditions that are hybrids between pop and theatre is important. It’s great show off a pop sensibility in how you sing, but also vital to tell story at the same time. Be on the lookout for well-written pop songs that tell a story and contain moments of specificity in the lyric…or look for well-written musical theatre songs that allow you to sing in a pop style.
