Recommended male audition song: JUST A WORD
This is a patter song, so be really specific about the consonants and making each thought separate. Have fun with it. Don’t make it too serious. The reveal at the end is yours to play with, so make it your own!
Performed by Thom Allison:
Recommended female audition song: READY TO FLY
This is a song where you can create your own backstory, so be specific and make it your own. Also, the last 16 bars are great for an audition.
Performed by Stephanie Gibson-Chase:
Favorite audition tip: Be yourself. Even though you are nervous, the people behind the table want you to be the best you can be. They WANT to love you, so give them what they want. Also, find a good balance between showing your personality and being professional.
When you pick songs, make sure you connect to them. Belting your face off is great, but being subdued and natural is even better sometimes. Pick the right song for YOU and for the part you are auditioning for. Be informed before you go into the room.
