Rachel Griffin, an award winning songwriter (National Public Radio, American Idol Underground) and a 2015-2016 Dramatists Guild Fellow, wrote the mental health musical We Have Apples with her husband, Aron Accurso, which was featured in The Washington Post and on CBS National News, and was workshopped by Theatre Now NY, NY Theatre Barn, and performed at 54 Below.
Rachel is a passionate mental health advocate and wrote several mental health blogs for The Huffington Post, performed/spoke at the Mental Health America annual conference, and participated in a PBS NewHour Chat on mental illness stigma. She started the viral mental-health Twitter campaign #ImNotAshamed (over 100,000 tweets) and has garnered over a million YouTube views. Rachel was commissioned by KOTA to write the music for Dance Divas, (lyrics by Danielle Trzcinski, book by Sheryl Berk) which was performed at Theatre Row.
