Last but not least, the final Writer Spotlight of 2014 features Will Reynolds

Today, September 25: use the code WRSPOTLIGHT to get 20% off all Will Reynolds sheet music

Favorite audition tip: “If you see it, I’ll see it.” Really let your mind’s eye “see” the details of your lyric, the imagery, the people/places you are singing about. The more specific your visuals can be, the more the they can see you see it, the more human your performance becomes. It also takes your attention off the people on the other side of that scary table, and back onto what matters most – the story.

Recommended male audition song: IF THE WORLD LOOKED LIKE YOU

“List songs” can be tricky, but every item in this tune is a discovery happening NOW, in the moment – play that! Also, don’t get ahead of the groove – listen to your awesome pianist.

Recommended female audition song: SPRING (recently added to NMT!)

The trick of the song is to remain 100% innocent while sharing your very private desires – the audience doesn’t want you to be in on the joke, that’s what keeps it from crossing the line. And by all means – use your discretion in terms of which lyric to use at the end! Have fun!
